# Your first days going live

## Your first days: going live

**What it is** — The recommended path from creating your Mochi account to a fully working team inbox: a roughly 60-minute setup checklist, followed by a short pacing period before you lean on setters and AI, so you go live with clean data and a team that already knows how the platform works.

**Who can use it** — Aimed at the Creator or Manager running the rollout. Setters and Closers join in partway through, once invited.

**Before you start** — Nothing required to read this. You'll move fastest through the checklist below if you have your Instagram login handy and, if you use one, your Calendly account. Already created your account and connected Instagram? Skip ahead to **Pace your rollout**.

### Your 60-minute quick start

Most teams have the mechanics of Mochi fully configured in about an hour. This part is short forms, toggles, and pastes, not a build project — do it in one sitting:

1. Go to `use.themochi.app`, enter your email, and click the magic login link. It expires in **15 minutes**. *(See Create your account & organization.)*
2. Create your organization — enter its **name** and upload a **logo**.
3. Enter your **access code** (from your welcome email — it looks like `NAME-#####`, e.g. `ACME-48213`) to unlock your account.
4. Connect Instagram: `Settings > Socials > Connect Instagram` — Business or Creator account only, and accept **every** permission Meta asks for. *(See Connect your Instagram.)*
5. Add any personal contacts or mutuals to **Excluded Contacts**, on that same `Settings > Socials` screen, so they never land in a setter's inbox.
6. Invite your team — set each person's **role**, **commission %**, and **lead distribution %** (must total 100 across your setters). *See Invite Your Team & Roles (Team & Leads module).*
7. Connect **Calendly**, if you use it, from `Settings > Integrations`. *See Connect Calendly (Integrations & Tracking module).*
8. Build your first AI tags — a solid starter set looks like **Hot Lead**, **Qualified**, **Booking Link Sent**, and **Objection – Price**. *See AI Tags: Auto-Tag Leads by Intent (AI Setup & Intelligence module).*
9. Turn on the **Spam Filter**: `Settings > Intelligence > Spam Filter`. *See Spam Filter: Keep Junk Out of Your Inbox (AI Setup & Intelligence module).*

### Pace your rollout

Finishing that checklist doesn't mean you should hand Mochi to your whole team the same day. A few things are worth pacing deliberately:

1. **Let messages accumulate for 2–4 days before relying on Mochi's AI or putting setters live.** Mochi only pulls in new messages from the moment you connect Instagram — there's no history — so the first couple of days build the real conversation data that AI suggestions, tags, and reporting need to be useful. Go live too early and setters are working from a nearly empty inbox.
2. **Spend those first few days in the product yourself**, as the Creator or Manager. Work the inbox, click through Leads, Automations, and the Dashboard before handing it to your team. It gives you a feel for how everything works, which makes it much easier to explain to setters when you bring them on.
3. **Send team invites early if you like** — it's part of the 60-minute setup, not the rollout. New members default to **0% lead distribution**, so nobody actually receives a lead until you raise their share; inviting early just means their accounts are ready the moment you want them working.
4. **Raise distribution and go live.** Once messages have accumulated and your setup is in place, raise your Setters' and Closers' lead distribution and let them start working the inbox.

### If you're switching from another tool (like ManyChat)

* **Run Mochi alongside your existing tool for 2–4 days during the transition**, then cut over fully once you trust what you're seeing in Mochi.
* **There's no way to import old conversations or contacts.** ManyChat doesn't support exporting contacts as a CSV, and Meta's API blocks any tool — Mochi included — from pulling in historical DM data. This isn't a Mochi gap; it applies to any platform switch.
* **Start fresh rather than waiting on a migration.** Most old contacts in another tool aren't actively convertible anyway — the same reply-window rules that govern Mochi apply across Instagram, so a contact that's gone cold elsewhere is just as cold there as it would be anywhere else.

### Tips

* Resist inviting your whole team on day one — the quality of those first few days of data directly affects how useful AI suggestions and tags feel to a new setter.
* Use the solo period to get your AI setup and tags in place so they're ready before setters start relying on them.
* If your Setters or Closers will work from iOS, get them onto the **TestFlight** beta ahead of time (see What Mochi is & how to get around) so they're not stuck installing it on day one.

### Common mistakes & fixes

| Mistake | Fix |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Treating the 60-minute setup as "fully live" | The checklist gets your account configured — it doesn't replace the 2–4 day data-accumulation window before setters and AI should rely on real leads. |
| Inviting setters the same day you connect Instagram | Wait 2–4 days first so there's real conversation data for setters and AI to work with. |
| Expecting old contacts from ManyChat (or another tool) to appear in Mochi | Not possible — no CSV import from ManyChat, and Meta blocks historical DM access for any tool. Start fresh. |
| Dropping your old tool the same day you connect Mochi | Run both in parallel for 2–4 days, confirm Mochi is tracking correctly, then cut over. |
| Creator or Manager skipping the solo period | Spend a few days in the product first — it makes onboarding your team much smoother. |

### Limits & good to know

* No historical DM or contact import from any previous tool — a Meta API restriction, not a Mochi one.
* The 2–4 day accumulation window is a recommendation, not a hard lock — you can technically invite setters sooner, but the pipeline and AI will be thin.
* The 60-minute setup time is typical, not a guarantee — it depends on how many team members and integrations you're configuring in one sitting.
