# AI reply suggestions

## AI Reply Suggestions

**What it is** — When a lead messages you, Mochi's AI drafts 2–3 ready-to-send reply options right in the Inbox, each labeled by intent. You pick one, edit it, or ignore it — Mochi never sends a suggestion on its own.

**Who can use it** — Setters and Closers use suggestions day to day while working the Inbox. Creators and Managers set up the voice and playbook the AI drafts from. Suggestions appear on both Web and iOS; the underlying setup (Setter Playbook and Creator DNA) is web-only.

**Before you start** — Your organization needs AI Setter enabled and a completed Setter Playbook for suggestions to be more than generic. See *Set up your AI: Setter Playbook & Creator DNA* (Module 04).

### How to use it

Suggestion cards appear above the composer in any open conversation, each tagged with an intent category — for example, a question, guidance with a next step, or a rapport-building reply.

1. Open a conversation with a new lead reply.
2. Review the 2–3 suggestion cards above the composer.
3. Click or tap the one that fits, or press **Ctrl+1**, **Ctrl+2**, or **Ctrl+3** on web to pick one directly.
4. Edit the text if needed.
5. Send.

### How it works

The AI drafts from two sources:

* **Voice** — picked up from the creator's own past sent messages: phrasing, length, emoji use, formality.
* **Playbook** — learned from conversations that led to booked calls or payments, plus what the coach enters during setup (business description, call-to-action link, offer, audience).

If you edit a draft before sending, Mochi remembers both the original suggestion and your edit, so future suggestions keep getting closer to how your team actually writes. This is edit-to-learn: the more your team edits instead of ignoring, the sharper suggestions get over time.

### The 24-hour window dependency

Suggestions only appear inside Instagram's 24-hour reply window (or the 7-day extension, for the small subset of organizations that have it, on manual sends only). Once the window closes, you get a copy-and-open-Instagram option in place of suggestions, since Mochi can't send anything until the lead messages again.

### Setting up the voice and playbook (web only)

Configure the AI's voice and playbook at `Settings > Intelligence > Setter Playbook` (and **Creator DNA**). A Test Playground lets you preview drafts before they go live. On iOS, `Settings > Intelligence` only covers Voice Cloning, Lead Summary, and Spam Filter — playbook and Creator DNA setup has to happen on web. See *Set up your AI: Setter Playbook & Creator DNA* (Module 04) for the full setup walkthrough.

### Script Analysis

Separately from suggestion drafting, Mochi tracks which exact lines and openers get the best — and worst — reply rates, both account-wide and broken down per team member, and you can filter by funnel stage. Use the worst-performing lines to see where a script needs work, or where it just doesn't land with your audience; use the best-performing lines to standardize what's already working across the team. Look for Script Analysis alongside your other performance reporting — see *The Performance dashboard* (Module 07).

### Tips

* Edit suggestions rather than ignoring them when they're close but not quite right — editing is what teaches the AI your team's real voice.
* Expect generic drafts on a brand-new account or a thin conversation history. They sharpen as more conversations and a completed Setter Playbook accumulate.
* Don't expect the AI to quote a price or re-send a booking link it already sent in the same conversation — it deliberately avoids both.
* Check Script Analysis periodically and retire your worst-performing lines instead of only ever adding new ones.

### Common mistakes & fixes

| Mistake | Fix |
| --------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Suggestions feel generic | Normal on a new account or thin history. Complete the Setter Playbook and give it more conversations to learn from. |
| No suggestions showing at all | Confirm AI Setter is enabled for your org and that you're inside the 24-hour reply window (or the 7-day extension, if eligible). |
| Suggestions never seem to improve | Make sure your team edits drafts before sending rather than always typing from scratch or always sending as-is — both skip the learning signal. |
| Playbook setup missing on iOS | Expected. Setter Playbook and Creator DNA setup is web-only — use `Settings > Intelligence` on web. |

### Limits & good to know

* Suggestions only appear inside the reply window; outside it, you get a copy-and-open-Instagram option instead.
* Drafts stay generic without a completed Setter Playbook and enough message history.
* Setter Playbook and Creator DNA setup is web-only, even though suggestions themselves appear on both platforms.
* Availability depends on your organization having AI Setter enabled.
