# Branded link domain

## Custom Branded Link Domain

**What it is** — Instead of sending links on the shared `moch.me` domain, use your own subdomain — producing links like `go.yourbrand.com/abc123` — for every tracked link you send. Tracking works identically; only the domain changes.

**Who can use it** — Creator and Manager roles only. Web-only — iOS has no custom-domain settings at all.

**Before you start** — Your organization needs to be in this feature's gated beta, and you'll need access to your domain's DNS settings to add a CNAME record.

### How to connect

1. Go to **Settings > Organization** and find **Custom link domain**.

2. Click **Connect domain**.

3. Add the CNAME record Mochi gives you to your domain's DNS settings, with your domain registrar or DNS provider.

4. Wait for verification.

Once verified, every new link uses your domain automatically — producing links like `go.yourbrand.com/abc123` — and links you already sent on `moch.me` keep working; nothing breaks in the switch.

### Why bother

Shared shortener domains like `moch.me` (or any public link shortener) pool reputation across everyone who uses them — if another user sends spammy links, it can affect deliverability for everyone on that domain. A domain that's yours alone carries only your own sending reputation, which matters more as your link volume grows.

Branded links are also cited internally at Mochi as seeing up to roughly 40% higher click-through than generic shortener links. Treat that as a directional data point from Mochi's own observations, not a guaranteed lift for your account — but between the reputation benefit and the CTR difference, it's worth prioritizing once your link volume is meaningful.

### Tips

* DNS changes can take a while to propagate. If verification doesn't complete right away, give it time before trying again.
* This is most worth setting up once you're sending a meaningful volume of links — a brand-new account doesn't need to prioritize it.

### Common mistakes & fixes

| Mistake | Fix |
| ---------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Verification won't complete | Double-check the CNAME record was added exactly as shown, at the correct DNS provider, then allow time for propagation. |
| Don't see Custom link domain under Settings > Organization | Your organization likely isn't in the beta yet. |
| Looking for this setting on iOS | It isn't there — manage custom domains from the web app only. |

### Limits & good to know

* Gated beta — not available to every organization yet.
* Web-only, Creator/Manager only.
* Existing `moch.me` links are unaffected and keep working after you connect a custom domain.
